What Is The Perio Protect Method®?
The Perio Protect Method® uses patented, researched, and non-invasion Perio Trays® to deliver Peroxide gel deep into the gums. It is a comprehensive and minimally invasive method that helps fight the bacteria that resides deep in the gumline, beyond where a toothbrush, floss, or even mouthwash can reach. The gel, which is hydrogen peroxide-based, removes the bad bacteria, strengthening the gums, lessening bleeding, and decreasing inflammation.
These bacteria can cause inflammation and infection to form in the mouth and, if not treated, can spread throughout the rest of your body. Now, more than ever, it’s important to treat and prevent inflammation and infection at the source. While brushing, rinsing, and flossing are essential to your dental and total health, these efforts often fall short on reaching deep below the gum line where bacteria thrives — in the periodontal pockets.
How Does It Work?
Your dentist will take a mold of your mouth to send off to a dental laboratory who will use the mold to create a customized Perio Tray, which is similar to a mouth guard. Once the tray is ready, you will receive it, along with hydrogen peroxide gel, to use at home. You can use the tray daily, adding some gel to the tray, and placing it in your mouth. It fits like Invisalign braces or mouth guards and is comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. We recommend wearing the trays for at least 10 minutes, but the longer you can wear the trays, the more effective the treatment will be.
Significant evidence exists of the antiviral properties offered by hydrogen peroxide toward COVID-19 and other viruses. Because hydrogen peroxide kills viruses, this peroxide-based therapy can help with periodontal maintenance and reduce the risk of oral transmission of the virus via saliva. The gel will be able to reach the deep, periodontal pockets and kill the damaging bacteria that reside there.
