COVID-19 certainly caused a sudden and significant change in societal structure and day-to-day routines. With the quick and unexpected changes, the pandemic quickly shifted the way many people access health care – and dental care is no exception.

To slow the spread of the virus, many dentist offices have closed their doors, no longer performing routine care, which includes regular check-ups, cosmetic improvements, and non-threatening procedures. It gave way to heightened concern in many minds whether a visit to the dentist is safe during these times. Especially now – as offices slowly begin to open their doors once again – there are still questions you need answered.

You may be feeling anxious about the safety of a visit to the dentist during the pandemic. Is it truly safe? What are the limitations? Should I do anything to better prepare?

We are here to answer those questions and help you make an informed, anxiety-free decision about scheduling a dental appointment.

Q: Should I go if I’ve had contact with a COVID-19 positive patient?

A: If you’ve had any known contact with a positive COVID case, please stay home and practice the recommended two-week self-quarantine. This also applies if you are feeling sick in any way – even if your symptoms are not the standard COVID symptoms.

Q: Is it safe for me to go to the dentist?

A: We are following CDC, ADA and OSHA -recommended safety guidelines to ensure the highest level of sanitization and safety in our office. Some precautions we have put in place include:

  • All LSC staff are equipped with the proper PPE
  • All patients receive a Level 3 mask when departing our office
  • Patients are spread out to honor proper social distancing practices and we are leaving an empty room in between patients at all times.
  • The office is equipped with an air purifier that features a medical-grade filter

As long as you do your part — including not coming to our office if feeling sick, practicing proper hand-washing techniques, and avoiding touching your face — you have no reason to worry about your safety when visiting the dentist.

Even during this pandemic, it is vital to maintain good oral hygiene habits. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, you can contact us here.

We continue to remain dedicated to your health, safety, and peace of mind. After all, health is greater than disease.
